Paul McCartney and wife split

Sir Paul McCartney and his wife of nearly four years, Heather Mills McCartney, have officially announced their split after weeks of speculation about strife between the pair. "Having tried exceptionally hard to make our relationship work given the daily pressures surrounding us, it is with sadness that we have decided to go our separate ways," said a joint statement released by the couple. "We have found it increasingly difficult to maintain a normal relationship with constant intrusion into our private lives. Our parting is amicable and both of us still care very much about each other." Mills and McCartney have a two year old daughter, Beatrice. Just a week ago, Mills denied reports of a possible split, saying, "It's hilarious. Of course we are together. Paul and I are still very much together. Paul and I are together 100 percent."
