Cruise/Paramount partnership severed

A war of words is brewing between reps for Tom Cruise and his producing partner, Paula Wagner, and Paramount Pictures. A spokesperson for Paramount told the Wall Street Journal Tuesday that movie company will be severing its relationship with Cruise/Wagner Productions, saying that Cruise's "recent conduct has not been acceptable to Paramount... As much as we like him personally, we thought it was wrong to renew his deal." In response, Wagner has claimed that agents for Cruise/Wagner Productions had stopped negotiating with the film giant a week ago and has since landed independent funding, and that Paramount's announcement was "surprising. For some reason, Paramount has chosen to negotiate in the press," Wagner said. In the past year, Cruise has been ridiculed for his couch-hopping appearance on Oprah, and has been outspoken about his Scientology beliefs.

I don't believe in that Scientology bull****, and I don't have enough knowledge about psychology to make a judgement about whether it is a farse or not, OR whether drugs is BAD for ALL people, BUT if TOM is being fired, or "released" from Paramount it should not be because he has his own choices, and opinions about religion, and drugs. OR because he jumped on OPRAH's couch.
CAN you imagine if we were all fired from our jobs because our bosses didn't like our religion, or the fact that we believe in natural remedies, rather than synthetic drugs to cure what ails us. Or if the boss fired us because we made strange decisions in regard to our personal relationships.
I think that if Paramount fired him because of his beliefs, or life choices, it's dispicable!!!
I can understand if they made this decision because his movies haven't been doing well! OTHERWISE Paramount is in the wrong!!!

Many scientologists have acting careers--JOHN TRAVOLTA for instance, and many actors have showcased behaviour that should have had them banned in Hollywood--MEL GIBSON, along with all the other actors and actresses who have injured civilians while under the influence of drugs and alcohol.

I am not a huge fan of all of Tom Cruise's movies, BUT I think that Tom Cruise, through his work over the year, has become a respected actor, and it should be this, that is taken into consideration by Paramount, NOT the LEGAL things that he choses to do in his personal life.
