Madonna celebrates Kabbalah in Israel

Madonna joined other devotees of Kabbalah, Judaism's mystical tradition, at a Tel Aviv hotel Thursday on the occasion of the Jewish New Year. The 49-year-old singer, who wore a shiny black track jacket and a red hat with a plaid brim, is attending a Kabbalah conference during a private visit to the Holy Land. She arrived Wednesday night but didn't speak to the media. Madonna was raised Roman Catholic but has become a follower of Jewish mysticism in recent years. She plans to visit sites sacred to Kabbalah devotees during her stay.
